The Barton Wedding

Date: 18th August 2012

Location: Warmsworth Hall, Doncaster

This was a nervous day for 3 people. Obviously the lovely couple had some nerves, who doesn’t on your wedding day, but also there was someone else who was a bit shaky, me! This was the first wedding I had ever shot.

I worked with Jamie at the time and he approached me and told me his wedding photographer had pulled out at the last minute. Knowing I was into photography, he asked if I would be willing to capture their day. I was a little taken back but I said “ye, sure, I can do that”. I then spent the next few days frantically searching techniques and looking up the venue online. I was confident in my ability to get good shots, but had never worked under the pressure of a wedding day. I’m not exaggerating when I say that my antiperspirant on that day was working overtime!

I didn’t have a good long lens back then, so also put the feelers out to everyone I knew who might be able to let me borrow one. I eventually found a friend with a lovely Canon 70-200 f2.8. I knew this was an expensive lens and was being trusted to bring it back without a scratch, so I was very grateful. I’m glad to say that they were very happy with how it all turned out, and so was I.
